Services
When the problem is how the organization works, not what the staff know.
AAHE provides strategic planning, organizational development, process improvement, change management, capacity building, and technical assistance for organizations that are accountable to a funder, a board, a contracting officer, or a community.
What AAHE delivers
Scope
Strategic planning
Facilitated planning that ends in a document the organization actually uses: priorities, owners, timeframes, and a way to tell whether it is being followed.
Organizational development
Structure, roles, decision rights, and the working practices that determine whether good people produce good results.
Process improvement
Finding where work stalls, doubles back, or depends on one person, and redesigning the process so it does not.
Change management
Bringing people through a change rather than announcing it to them, which is the difference between a change that holds and one that reverts within a year.
Capacity building
Building the internal capability an organization needs to sustain a program after the engagement ends, which is what most funders are actually asking for when they fund technical assistance.
Technical assistance
Direct, hands on support against a defined gap, delivered to the organization or to the businesses and partners it serves.
Performance improvement
Defining what performance means for the organization, measuring it, and closing the gap.
How it is delivered
Delivery formats
- A discrete engagement against a defined question, with a written deliverable
- Facilitated sessions with a leadership team or board
- Technical assistance delivered to an organization’s clients under a funded program, which is how this service is most often procured in the public sector
- Ongoing advisory across a performance period
Engagements begin with a requirement review, and the deliverable list and acceptance criteria are agreed in writing before work starts.

- Facilitated sessions where the work requires the organization’s own people in the room
- An implementation path, with owners and sequence, rather than recommendations with no route to action
- Reporting in the client’s required format where the engagement sits inside a funded program
