Services

Leadership development that changes how an organization operates, not how a room feels for a day.

AAHE designs and delivers leadership academies, supervisor and management development, and customized professional development for public agencies, corporations, and community organizations, built around the behaviors the organization actually needs to change.

What AAHE delivers

Scope

Leadership development academies

Multi-session cohort programs that develop a defined group of leaders together over time, rather than sending individuals to unrelated workshops. Cohort delivery is what produces a shared language across a leadership team.

Supervisor development

The transition from doing the work to being accountable for other people doing it. Delegation, expectation setting, feedback, documentation, and the supervisory judgment that first time supervisors are usually promoted without.

Management training

Planning, prioritization, resource decisions, performance management, and managing within the constraints of the organization’s structure.

Communication

Communication that holds up under pressure: with staff, across departments, with executives, and with the public where the organization is publicly accountable.

Emotional intelligence

Self awareness, regulation, and reading a room, framed as a professional competency tied to outcomes rather than as a personality exercise.

Team effectiveness

How teams make decisions, distribute work, handle disagreement, and hold each other accountable.

Conflict management

Surfacing and resolving conflict early, including the conflicts a supervisor is tempted to route around instead of addressing.

Accountability

Setting expectations that can be measured, following through consistently, and closing the gap between what was agreed and what happened.

Leading through change

Leading people through reorganization, new systems, funding shifts, and changes in direction, which is the condition most public sector and grant funded organizations operate in continuously.

Customized professional development

Programming built to a specific organization’s requirement where none of the standard framings fit.

How it is delivered

Delivery formats

  • A single session against a specific and well defined need
  • A multi-session series for an intact team or department
  • A cohort academy running across several months
  • Curriculum development and train the trainer, where the client delivers with its own staff

Content is built for the environment the participants work in. Training delivered inside or on behalf of a municipal government carries requirements that generic leadership content does not meet: the audience operates inside a public sector structure, is accountable to residents and elected leadership, and works within civil service and public administration constraints.
