Past performance

City of Tampa and East Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency, Teen Leadership and Entrepreneurship Academy

Multi-year program covering career development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, college readiness, real estate, leadership development, and digital literacy.

Scope of work performed

AAHE delivered a multi-year Teen Leadership and Entrepreneurship Academy for the City of Tampa and the East Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency.

The academy curriculum spanned career development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, college readiness, real estate, leadership development, and digital literacy. That is seven distinct instructional domains delivered inside a single program to a teen audience, sequenced so that the pieces build on one another: financial literacy underpins the entrepreneurship content, leadership development runs through the career and college readiness material, and digital literacy supports all of it.

The multi-year structure meant the engagement was a managed program rather than a series of training dates. AAHE carried program design, curriculum development across all seven domains, delivery, and the coordination required to run a youth academy on behalf of a municipal client and a community redevelopment agency, including participant management and stakeholder coordination across two public bodies.

The real estate component is worth noting on its own. Teaching real estate fundamentals to teenagers inside a CRA funded program connects the curriculum directly to the redevelopment mission of the agency funding it, and it is a scope element that a general youth programming vendor would not typically be able to deliver.

Outcome

The City of Tampa and the East Tampa CRA received a multi-year youth academy delivered across seven curriculum domains under a single provider.

This engagement answers the questions that decide a training award.

Can the vendor sustain performance over time? The academy ran multiple years, which is direct evidence of retention, and public agencies do not renew youth programming that fails.

Can the vendor manage a program, not just teach a class? Seven curriculum domains, a teen population, a multi-year performance period, and two public sector stakeholders is program management work. It substantiates AAHE’s Project and Program Management capability with performed work rather than a description of services.

Can the vendor build curriculum rather than resell it? Career development, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, college readiness, real estate, leadership development, and digital literacy for a teen audience is a purpose built curriculum set.

Can the vendor work with a community redevelopment agency? CRA funded programming carries specific accountability to a redevelopment area and its residents, and AAHE has performed in that setting.

The engagement is directly relevant to requirements for youth workforce and career readiness programs, teen leadership academies, youth entrepreneurship and financial literacy programming, college and career pathway initiatives, CRA and community redevelopment funded programming, out of school time and summer youth programs, and any multi-component training contract where one provider is expected to carry the whole scope.
